A place to slow down and reconnect
At Bucks Inn, we believe there is something special about slowing down and reconnecting with the people and places around you. Spend time together in the hot tub, enjoy a quiet afternoon fishing at the dam, or take a leisurely walk around the farm and meet our animals along the way. It’s a place to put the busy world aside, enjoy the outdoors and make memories with the people who matter most.

Where it all began
In 2018, our dad, Malcolm “Mally” Buchanan, began building a home on our family farm. It was a project close to his heart, and despite managing his health and running his business, he was determined to see it through. He spent his days moving between dialysis, the office and the farm, where he could often be found cooking for the builders, sharing stories and getting involved in every little detail. What started as building a house soon became something much more special — a place filled with family, friendships and memories.

A home filled with memories
The house became a special part of our family story. Dad loved being outdoors, spending time with friends, fishing from his boat and enjoying the peace of the bush. He had a way of making people feel welcome, and wherever he was, there was usually a story to tell, a meal to share or someone to help. Although Dad passed away in 2021, the memories he created and the kindness he gave so freely remain a big part of who we are today.

bringing it home
Three years later, we were incredibly fortunate to bring the house back into our family. We named it Mally’s as a little tribute to Dad and the home he built with so much love. Today, Mally’s is still a family home at heart — a place where we can gather, slow down and enjoy the simple things. We hope that when you stay here, you feel the same warmth Dad brought to those around him, and leave with a few special memories of your own.

Located on Bucks Inn Farm in the heart of the KZN Midlands, Mally’s is a spacious family home created for slowing down, reconnecting and making memories together. With four en-suite bedrooms, a large open-plan living area and a cosy fireplace, there is plenty of space to relax and enjoy time together. Outside, unwind in the wood-fired hot tub, try your hand at Bass or Trout fishing at the dam on a catch-and-release basis, or take a walk around the farm and meet the animals along the way. Mally’s is also pet-friendly by arrangement, making it a place for the whole family to enjoy. More than just a place to stay, it’s a home filled with warmth, nature and the simple pleasures of farm life.

Mally’s offers four comfortable en-suite bedrooms, making it ideal for families and groups. Choose from a cosy double room, a spacious king room with both a bath and shower, a comfortable queen room, or a family-friendly room with both a single and double bed. Each room offers a welcoming space to unwind after a day exploring the farm and the Midlands.
